The nearest airport is Bagdogra, about 4 hours drive. The nearest railhead is New Jalpaiguri (about 4 hours). From Siliguri(which is the same as New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra for all practical purposes), you have plenty of taxies available.

Climate
It is a hill station. Very pleasant.

What to see?
The typical attractions of a hill station. Good promenades with a view of the Himlayas. The tiger hills, from where you get a glimpse of the gorgeous sun rise early in the mornings. A number of Bhuddhist monasteries are there.
